The Board of Directors of the Greenville Literacy Association has named Jocelyn Slaughter as Executive Director. As chief executive officer, Slaughter will provide strategic leadership and manage the professional staff to deliver excellent adult literacy programs and services in Greenville County. Slaughter replaces Carol Browning who retired from the role in December.
Board President Dale Stewart said, "I am confident that Jocelyn Slaughter will be an outstanding leader for Greenville Literacy Association. Her understanding of non-profit leadership will help GLA continue to fulfill its mission to enrich our community by increasing the literacy and employability of our citizens."
Slaughter has more than six years of non-profit leadership, marketing and fundraising experience with Miracle Hill Ministries. In 2013, she served as president of the South Carolina Piedmont Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Prior to her non-profit career, Slaughter held marketing and analysis roles at Michelin North America, Intec Video Systems, Maxon Lift Corporation, Bank of America, and BP Oil Company.
Slaughter holds a bachelor's degree in economics and English from Amherst College and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business. Slaughter is also a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), holds a nonprofit management certificate from Duke University, and is a graduate of Leadership Greenville Class 40.
